More About Julie: |
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of
Colorado and a National Certified Counselor. I earned my Master of Arts
degree in Professional Psychology from Cleveland State University in
1980 and I’ve been in private practice since 1993. I have close to 30
years of experience with a wide range of counseling techniques. I am a
member of the American Counseling Association and the Colorado
Organization for Victim Assistance.
I believe it’s important to fit the counseling technique to the client’s
particular issues. I utilize a variety of therapeutic counseling
techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT),
problem-solving therapy, interpersonal therapy and psychodynamic
therapy. In addition, I stay current with continuing education. I have
participated in continuing education courses including Relational Life
Therapy with Terrence Real, Imago Relationship Therapy with Harville
Hendrix, Domestic Violence with Lenore Walker, Antisocial Personalities
with Stanton Samenow, Substance Abuse with Father Martin’s Ashley and
many other trainings.
My strongest assets as a therapist are the warmth, empathy and
hopefulness I bring to the process. My clients know that I really care
about them and they often respond by working hard to make changes in
their lives. Even the teenagers I work with usually figure out that I
want them to be happy. I recognize the healing power of laughter and try
to incorporate some humor when it’s appropriate.
Personal interests include biking, cooking, reading, movies, crossword
puzzles and traveling. I love visiting with my children and
grandchildren.
